Mary Guruama Memorial Foundation

Nepali Isai Mandali (NIM), also known as Gyaneshwor Church, is one of the oldest churches in Nepal, established in 1957. By God’s grace, the church has grown tremendously and continues to grow today. The Mary Guruama Memorial Foundation was initiated as an integral evangelistic tool of Gyanshwor Church. The foundation was established in the name of Mrs. Mary Karthak, the late wife of Pastor Robert Karthak. We earnestly seek your support.

Mary Karthak had a vision to serve the elderly people as Jesus did. She always encouraged others to be witnesses to the transforming grace of Jesus Christ. She believed that being involved with social needs was a form of evangelism, so she dreamed of opening a senior center for church members. Her passion was fueled by her close contact and interaction with helpless and poor elderly people. She helped and supported many poor and marginalized elderly people in many ways and provided food and shelter for their sustenance from the beginning of her ministry.

She prayed continuously and she always brought up the needs of the elderly in church committee meetings. Finally her vision was fulfilled in December of 1995. Mary Guruama Memorial Foundation was established to provide security and shelter for the elderly and needy people who did not have any support from their families. Presently, ten elderly women receive security, shelter and spiritual help through Gyaneshwor Church.

The Mary Guruama Memorial Foundation was legally registered with the Government of Nepal in 2004. This foundation has also encouraged others to start non-profit organizations that help bring awareness to social needs and help the local communities around the church.
